What is Ignition Seven?

The Free Run of Faith

In a Nutshell

Ignition Seven is a simple idea: seven videos that walk with you through seven days—possibly your first seven days—of following God and beyond. Whether you are new to this whole Jesus thing or you have been at it for a while, Ignition Seven is for you.

Encountering Jesus is not the end; it is the beginning of a journey we will not survive if we go it alone. Through the videos and resources of Ignition Seven, a few friends have offered to “go home with you” and walk with you through the next week.

Curious? Then simply start watching the videos to join the Ignition Seven team in the Free Run of Faith. You don’t have to go it alone . . . so don’t.

Our Big Problem

Meeting Jesus may be the end of an old life, but it is also the beginning of a new one. New life is fragile. Delicate. In need of constant care. The reality is that when we walk out the door from an encounter with Jesus, an enemy waits to ruthlessly destroy our new life.  I’ve seen thousands of people make decisions for Christ over the years and unfortunately, 3 out of 4 of them usually do not even make it back the next week—much less survive and grow into spiritual maturity. This is in spite of all our best efforts at initial contact, follow-up, and long-term connection. It is especially true if their situation at home is difficult, dangerous, or detrimental to their faith.  Simply put, we are putting newborn spiritual babies out into the streets to fend for themselves and for the longest time, I have felt completely helpless to know what to do to see them sustained. We get them for just a few hours each week; the world gets them the other 164 hours or so. It seems hopeless.

We are failing. They are dying.

Our Story

I was in the mountains one day on a short weekend getaway for my daughter’s birthday and the dismal realization none of us wants to face—the fact that so many new Christians do not survive in the faith—was standing square in front of me. Like a giant, it taunted me with hopelessness and ineffectiveness. I began lamenting to God about it. It seemed impossible and honestly, it seemed unfair. I was distraught.  In desperation, I cried out to God, “I just can’t go home with them!”  That is when I truly heard an internal voice whisper to me, “You can go home with them.  I’ve given you two things you can do: you can write, and you can do video.”  That conversation with God spawned the dream of Ignition Seven: seven videos that walk people through seven days of following God — maybe even their first seven days.  It began a two-year journey of writing, shooting, and editing that has led us to this moment.  Now, I can look those who decide to follow Jesus in the eye, hand them something tangible and finally utter the words I have always wanted to say to thousands of students and adults over the years, “You are not alone! For the next week, we’re going home with you to walk with you in your new faith.”

For me, it is a literal dream come true.

Our God-Idea: The Free Run of Faith

The theme of Ignition Seven centers around the idea of free running, or parkour. Following Jesus is not like running in a neat little circle. It is a complex, real life adventure complete with obstacles and seemingly insurmountable challenges. Like free running, we have to learn to follow in the steps of the One ahead of us.  The first seven days of the free run of faith helps a new Christian explore the concepts and truths they need to survive and grow. The idea is that some friends just go home with you to walk with you in your journey. We know that a new Christian is going to have doubts, questions, and weaknesses—why not just be there to tell them this is normal and that it is okay to not have everything figured out on the first day. When we tell them to read the Bible, we might as well be handing them the largest, most intimidating book imaginable. They need practical help. Prayer? Come on, let’s help them know what it really means and offer some examples of how they can do it for themselves when the video is over.

The best way to see what Ignition Seven is all about is to watch the videos.

Our goal is simple: is to give these videos away to every new free runner of faith we we can find. We also want to equip anyone out there who wins souls. Students. Adults. Pastors. Evangelists. Christian organizations. Ministries. Churches. Youth Groups. Passionate Individuals. Anyone who wants to survive his or her own personal free run of faith, or wants to help someone else make it to the finish line.

Who is Ignition Seven For?

Ignition Seven is designed for any Christ-follower of any age. It speaks to the viewer as if they are new to faith, but it is also effective for those who have been following Christ for some time. It will most likely be most relevant for individuals in their pre-teens all the way to their mid-thirties. However, it is not limited to these ages: principles work in any package.

The videos are available for free on this website. I have also written a book that we are in the process of making available to help new free runners of faith go further than the first week. There are other resources we are developing to further equip the new free runner of faith. Be on the lookout for apps and other tools as they become available.
